[origin: DE19957337A1] The pump has at least two pump units (1,2) that alternately suck and pump, a feed line, a suction line and a changeover valve (11) for changing over between pump units, whereby a pumping pump unit is connected to the feed line and a sucking pump unit is connected to the suction line. A charging pressure device (17) separate from the pump unit near the suction line actively causes compression of the viscous material. Independent claims are also included for the following: a suction/pumping method for viscous material.
