[origin: WO0215495A1] A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for preparing a datagram for transmission through a switch fabric. In general, a datagram (600) having a header portion (610,608,606) and a body portion (602) is first received. The header portion is separated from the body portion and then forwarded for processing. The separated body portion is then stored in a memory. After processing, the header is received and stored in the memory.
