[origin: DE19957638A1] Detecting antibiotics, comprises: (a) carrying out thin-layer chromatography to separate a sample on a DC-plate; (b) preparing a bacterial suspension comprising a test species and culture medium at 1:3 wt.% in relation to a dry weight bacterial polysaccharide used as a gelling agent; (c) spraying the DC plate with the suspension; (d) incubating the plate; and (e) staining the plate with reagents. An Independent claim is also included for a kit for carrying out the method described above.
