[origin: WO0144818A2] The invention relates to an immunoassay for determining the parathyroid hormone activity in a sample and to a method for diagnosing, finding the causes for and treating disorders of the calcium metabolism, osteopathies and hyper- or hypoparathyreoses. The parathyroid hormone activity is measured by means of an antibody that binds to an epitope in the area of the receptor binding structure 15 to 22 of the parathyroid hormone, and an antibody that recognizes whether the aminoterminal end 1 to 3 of the parathyroid hormone has remained intact. The inventive assay allows taking into account the antagonist properties of some parathyroid hormone fragments.
