Abstract (en)

[origin: DE19962640A1] The self-supporting shaped unit, formed by heat using a fiber nonwoven material, uses a nonwoven composed of a mixture of natural and viscose fibers and especially modified viscose fibers with a high melting point. They are bonded together by heat and pressure. The mixture is a double or triple combination of the fiber components. The modified viscose fibers are acetate fibers, with a melting point \-190 deg C. The heat and pressure are applied to the nonwoven in a molding press. The viscose and/or modified viscose fibers comprise 20-80 wt% of the material mixture. The mixture ratio of the natural fibers to the viscose and/or modified viscose fibers is 50 to 50 wt%. The material for the shaped component has a weight of 150-3000 g/m<2> and preferably 200-1000 g/m<2>. The shaped component has a thickness of 1-5 mm. An Independent claim is included for a material shaping process, where the nonwoven of the required fiber mixture is placed in a molding press, to be shaped into a self-supporting component.
