[origin: WO0147317A1] The invention relates to a terminal adapter for format conversion between information circulating on an ISDN bus (S) according to the ISDN standard and information circulating on an USB bus (18) according to the USB standard, said ISDN bus linking the terminal adapter to a communications network and said USB bus linking the terminal adapter to a microprocessor device. The terminal adapter is managed and the information is processed exclusively by the microprocessor device, the only autonomous function of the terminal adapter being to cause the microprocessor device to switch from a sleep mode to an activated mode when a communication arrives on the ISDN bus and the microprocessor device is in a sleep mode. A series of contacts (61) associated with a ROM bloc (60) makes it possible to indicate the consumption class of the adapter
