[origin: WO0146271A1] The invention relates to a method for the production of a solid catalyst for olefin polymerisation, which contains A) at least one magnesium halide, B) at least one metallocene complex and C) at least one metallocene-ion-forming compound. The method is characterised in that i) firstly, fine grain support particles with a mean particle diameter of 1 to 200 mu m are produced from an adduct of the magnesium halide A) and a C1-C8 alkanol, whereby said adduct contains 1.5 to 5 moles of the C1-C8 alkanol per mole of magnesium halide; ii) the metallocene-ion-forming compound C) is deposited on the fine grain support particles and iii) then bringing the product from the above in contact with the metallocene complex B). The invention further relates to a solid catalyst for olefin polymerisation, the use thereof for the polymerisation or copolymerisation of olefins and a method for production of polyolefins, by polymerisation or copolymerisation of olefins in the presence of the said catalyst.
