[origin: EP1245386A1] To distribute the inks to the color printing stage of a printing press, and especially a sheet-fed offset printing press, during the sheet feed phase the roller assembly (4) of the color printing unit is at least partially interrupted by a separation (5). As the color printing unit is empty, a defined volume of ink is fed to it while it is interrupted. The upper section of the roller assembly, towards the color box (1), is filled with an additional ink dosage. The printing is started when the roller interruption is broken.
