To transfer a moving paper web or web leader (9) between a web guide surface (6a) at a preceding workstation to a web carrier (22), at least one short burst of a high energy air jet stream from an edge jet (21) detaches the web from the guide surface. At the same time, the jet stream cuts the web or leader laterally, so that the new leading edge of the web or leader can be picked up by the web carrier. The jet stream has a duration of 0.05-0.5 seconds at a pressure of 7-10 bar. and with a jet stream speed in the sonic range.

Eine Überführ-Vorrichtung (20) dient in einer Papiermaschine zum Überführen eines Papierbahn-Randstreifens ("Bändels" 9) von einem bahnabgebenden Zylindermantel (6a) an einen Vakuum-Bandförderer (8). Sie umfaßt eine Trenneinrichtung (21), die am Einlaufbereich des Bandförderers (8) angeordnet ist, um den Bändel (9) quer durchzutrennen und um einen neuen, dem Bandförderer (8) zuzuführenden Anfang des Bändels zu bilden. Am Einlaufbereich des Bandförderers (8) ist eine Baugruppe (20) vorgesehen umfassend eine pneumatische Führungsplatte (22) und die besagte Trenneinrichtung (21), die als ein Randdüsen-Paar (21) ausgebildet ist. Die Randdüsen sind geeignet, um kurzzeitig einen Hochenergie-Luftstrahl auszustoßen zwischen den Zylindermantel (6a) und den Bändel (9). <IMAGE>
