[origin: EP1247894A2] A paper (1) manufacture de-watering press has two rollers (2, 3) between which the wet web advances in contact on both sides with upper and lower press felts (4, 5). After the rollers (4, 5), the web (1) passes to an air suction box (7) and roller (6). On arrival at the suction box, the upper felt (4) lifts clear of the box. The pre-suction box roller (6) is an air suction roller. The suction box has a downward-inclined convex side-profile with a sharp initial camber and has a number of air suction slots (9) transverse to the direction of web travel.
