Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1249288A2] Process for controlling the drive forces of strand guide segments comprises using a highest permissible drive force to convey the strand; measuring the individual forces of a number of segments; calculating the sum of the individual forces; and comparing with the highest permissible drive force and switching off the device if this force is exceeded. An Independent claim is also included for a device for controlling the drive forces of strand guide segments. Preferred Features: Force measurements are initially carried out in the casting device without the strand, further measurements are carried out during the casting process and the difference between the force measurements give the pulling forces.
