[origin: WO0223682A1] The invention relates to a brush holder for commutating machines, comprising a plurality of commutator brushes (15) adapted to be placed on a commutator (18) of the commutating machine in a nonpositive fit. One each of said brushes is guided in a tubular brush holder (12) so as to be axially displaceable with play and is impinged upon by a brush pressure spring (16) in the direction of ejection from the tubular brush holder (12), said brush pressure spring supporting itself between the tubular brush holder (12) and the commutator brush (15). Every tubular brush holder (12) is provided with a retaining element (21) as an assembly aid. Said retaining element retains the spring-biased commutator brush (16) on the tubular brush holder (12) during assembly in a positive fit and releases it after assembly. In order to provide, in terms of manufacturing, a very simple and assembly-time saving assembly aid, the retaining element (20) is designed as an integral part of the tubular brush holder (12) and it furthermore facilitates establishment of the positive fit by slightly tilting the commutator brush (15) in the tubular brush holder (12) and removing it by setting it straight.
