[origin: FR2804397A1] The invention mainly concerns a method for making a master cylinder, in particular a tandem master cylinder comprising a step which consists in adjusting lost travel and a master cylinder obtained by said method. The inventive tandem master cylinder (13) comprises at least a piston (9, 67) mounted in translation in a cylinder equipped with a valve (37, 75) comprising a travel adjusting component (51, 71, 55, 77, 57) so as to obtain a desired lost travel, preferably lost travel within a range of desired lost travel values. The inventive method for making such a cylinder comprises a step which consists in measuring the valve lost travel followed by a step which consists in mounting in the master cylinder a travel adjusting component providing travel compensation so as to obtain lost travel within a range of desired lost travel values. The invention is particularly applicable to the motor car industry. The invention is mainly applicable to the industry manufacturing brake systems for motor vehicles and in particular passenger vehicles.
