[origin: WO0153680A2] The invention relates to a method and a device for shutting off the cylinders on a combustion engine (10), especially of a vehicle, comprising a control unit (15) which is in operative working contact with the cylinders (11, 12, 13, 14) of the internal combustion engine (10) and which has a monitoring unit (21), a knock control unit (20) and an injection valve-shut off unit (22). The invention provides that the injection valve-shut off unit (22) is operatively connected to the knock control unit (20) so that the cylinders can be shut off in a co-ordinated manner. The injection valve-shut off unit (22) is provided with a storage means (23) for storing a cylinder shut-off programme.
