[origin: EP1252874A2] The electrically driven (12) mechanism assists a person in getting up from the chair by lifting and tilting the seat area (2) to the front. The mechanism is located underneath the seat frame (16) and consists of horizontal components stationary joined to the frame and swivel mounted to the parts which are moved during the lifting process. The danger of getting ones fingers caught in the mechanism can be avoided by the installation of a housing (6,7,8,9,10) which accommodates the movable parts of the mechanism.
