Abstract (en)
The present invention relates to a patch antenna comprising a ground element (3, 11, 12) being electrically conductive, a resonator element (2, 8, 9, 13, 14) being electrically conductive, and a solid dielectric element (4) located between the resonator element and the ground element, whereby the ground element (3, 11, 12) is electrically connected to the resonator element (2, 8, 9, 13, 14) by means of a connector. The solid dielectric element (4) only fills part of the volume between the ground and the resonator element and works as a spacer to keep the distance tolerance between the ground and the resonator element low, so that a lightweight antenna produceable at low cost is provided. The patch antenna according to the present invention is particularly useful as internal antenna for GSM mobile phones. <IMAGE>
