[origin: WO0158777A1] The invention concerns a method for making a cork stopper (2) of natural and/or synthetic origin for sparkling wine bottles such as champagne, said stopper (2) comprising a base adapted to form an inner wall (17) of said bottle (6) and an outer wall (30) adapted to press on the inner wall (24) of the neck (4). The method consists in: longitudinally deforming at least a portion of said outer wall (30) of said stopper (2) down to its base when the bottle (6) is closed so as to produce at least one groove (18, 33) forming a channel in said stopper; and in maintaining the longitudinal deformation while said bottle (6) is being sealed with said stopper (2), so that said groove (18, 33) forming a channel is preserved when said bottle is partly opened.
