Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1254768A2] Production of a structure of hydrophilic areas (34) and hydrophobic areas (32) on an unstructured polyimide surface comprises site-selective irradiation with electromagnetic energy followed by chemical treatment with an oxidizing agent. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a printing plate with a polyimide surface; (2) a printing unit comprising the printing plate of (1); (3) a printing machine comprising a feeder, at least one printing unit as in (2), and a collector.
