Plastic hollow profile (10) comprises a supporting wall (14) and at least one foamable hollow chamber (12) having a volume with a cross-sectional area defined at least partly by a hollow chamber wall (18) separate from the supporting wall and which is enlarged on expansion of the foam during specified deformation of the hollow chamber wall while the supporting wall remains dimensionally stable. An Independent claim is also included for a method for producing the above plastic hollow profile. Preferred Features: The supporting wall and the hollow chamber wall together define the cross-sectional area. The increase in volume is 2-20, preferably at least 10% of the original hollow chamber volume.

Um ein Kunststoffhohlprofil (10) mit einer tragenden Wand (14) zur Verbindung von zwei Metallprofilen miteinander und mit mindestens einer ausschäumbaren Hohlkammer (12) zur Verfügung zu stellen, bei dem einerseits ein vollständiges Ausschäumen der Hohlkammer (12) sichergestellt ist und andererseits Druckspannungen vermieden werden, die zu einer partiellen Verformung des Profils (10) führen und/oder sich nachteilig auf die Festigkeit des Kunststoffhohlprofils (10) auswirken, wird vorgeschlagen, dass die Hohlkammer (12) ein Volumen mit einer Querschnittsfläche aufweist, welche mindestens teilweise von einer von der tragenden Wand (14) verschiedenen Hohlkammerwand (16,17,18) begrenzt wird und welche sich bei der Expansion des Schaums unter vorgegebener Verformung der Hohlkammerwand (16,17,18) bei im Wesentlichen formstabiler tragender Wand (14) definiert vergrößert. <IMAGE>
