[origin: WO0158674A2] A new organic reinforcing fiber for unsaturated polyester and other thermoplastic and thermoset resins has been developed from an agricultural byproduct. The reinforcing fiber confers desirable cost and mechanical advantages on articles produced, for instance, by the polyester-fiberglass industry. Also described are methods for producing molded, composite articles utilizing this organic reinforcing fiber, apparatus for producing such articles, and methods for reducing the emission of volatile organic carbons during the production to such articles.
