Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0161001A2] The invention relates to nucleic acid sequences and isolated proteins which are novel interaction partners of inwardly rectifying potassium channels (Kirs), especially G protein-coupled inwardly rectifying potassium channels (GIRKs). Said interaction partners, together with the Kirs or GIRKs, form protein complexes. The invention also relates to a charged domain of the inventive interaction partners. Said domain binds to the complex intracellular area of Kirs and influences the activity of Kirs in general or of GIRKs in particular. The invention further relates to protein complexes of interaction partners and inwardly rectifying potassium channels, nucleic acid sequences or recombinant nucleic acid constructs which code for such proteins or domains and to the use thereof. The invention relates to protein complexes consisting of the inventive protein and further proteins. The invention also relates to host organisms and specially transgenic animals which contain the inventive nucleic acid sequences or the recombinant nucleic acid constructs as well as to mono- or polyclonal antibodies which are directed against the isolated proteins. The invention further relates to methods for finding partners, i.e. low-molecular or high-molecular substances that specifically bind to the inventive interaction partners.
