[origin: DE10003093A1] The invention relates to a method and to a device for examining the properties of the global, especially the primary hemostasis functions in whole blood or platelet-rich plasma. The inventive device comprises a storage room (15) for the blood to be examined, a reaction device (39) that comprises at least one flow path (5, 16) through which the blood to be examined is transported in order to carry out certain reactions, and a conveyor means (1) that conveys a volume flow for the purpose of transporting the blood through the reaction device (3), thereby generating a conveyor pressure. The inventive device is further provided with a pressure gauge (8, 9) that measures, in a blood-free pressure gauge chamber (3), the pressure changes of the conveyor pressure caused by the reactions of the blood to be examined that proceed in the reaction device (39), and with a blood collection chamber (10) for collecting the blood transported through the reaction device (39). The conveyor pressure is generated by a piston-cylinder system (1) in a pressure-sealed working chamber (12). A working surface (33) of the piston (4) defines the working chamber (12) which in turn is defined by the blood collection chamber (10) and the blood-free pressure gauge chamber (3). According to the inventive method, the volume flow is preferably adjusted according to the measured pressure in such a manner that the shearing rate or force under which the blood components, especially the thrombocytes, deposit in the reaction opening, follows a predetermined characteristic curve and is especially maintained constant.
