[origin: EP1256650A2] The fabric spreader (20), for fabric piecegoods (W), has a spreading roller (30) with a relief structure (21) which diverges to the outer ends from the roller center (22). The fabric passes at least partially around the roller, which rotates at a different speed from the fabric travel. A smooth pressure bar (40), of metal or plastics, applies at light radial pressure of 1-5 N/m against the fabric at the roller zone (23) where it passes around, at least over a part of the fabric width. The pressure bar swings on a pivot axis (S), parallel to its longitudinal line, against the fabric moving around the spreading roller.
