[origin: WO0159475A1] The invention relates to a device for transmitting data in a motor vehicle and/or from a motor vehicle in the environment thereof. The inventive device comprises a first transmitter/receiver unit (1) in or on the motor vehicle and a second transmitter/receiver unit (2) which is provided in at least one transponder unit, and whose spatial position in relation to the vehicle can be chosen or modified. The invention is characterized in that the first transmitter/receiver unit (1) is a distance-measuring radar unit which is extended to include a two-channel data transmission system; the second transmitter/receiver unit (2) is also a two-channel data transmission unit. The invention is further characterized in the microwave frequencies (f1, f2) for two channel communication of the data transmission system are selected in such a way that the difference thereof [f1 f2] results in an intermediate frequency (fZF) which can be processed by commercially available components each placed in a respective heterodyne receiver in the reception part of the first and second transmitter/receiver unit.
