The assembly to cool a paper web (14), at a rotary printing press where the web has passed through a hot air dryer, uses the heat from a heater (2,10) to give an evaporation cooling to a coolant (52) which is delivered to the cooling station (12) where the web passes through. Part of the coolant is evaporated, and the other part of the coolant is chilled by the extraction of vapor heat. The vapor is developed in at least one generator (26), powered by steam. An underpressure is formed for a vacuum chamber (50) where the coolant is partially evaporated and chilled.

Eine Vorrichtung zum Kühlen einer Materialbahn (14), insbesondere einer bedruckten und in einem Heißlufttrockner erhitzten Papierbahn (14) in einer Rollenrotationsdruckmaschine, wobei die Vorrichtung Abwärme einer Heizeinrichtung (2, 10) zur Verdampfungsabkühlung eines Kühlmediums (52) nutzt, welches zur Kühlung der Materialbahn (14) durch eine Kühleinrichtung (12) geleitet wird, und wobei ein erster Anteil des Kühlmediums (52) verdampft und ein zweiter Anteil des Kühlmediums (52) durch Entzug von Verdampfungswärme abgekühlt wird, zeichnet sich durch mindestens Dampfgenerator (26), in welchem, zumindest zum Teil mittels der Abwärme der Heizeinrichtung (2, 10), Dampf erzeugt wird, mindestens eine Dampfstrahlvakuumdüse (34, 36), welche mit dem Dampf betrieben wird und welche einen Unterdruck erzeugt, sowie eine Unterdruckkammer (50), in welcher das Kühlmedium (52) mit dem Unterdruck zum zumindest teilweisen Verdampfen und zum Abkühlen beaufschlagt wird, aus. <IMAGE>
