[origin: FR2805827A1] A method for the production of strip for the production of drink can bodies consists of producing an aluminium alloy containing (by weight) 1.1 to 1.7% Mg, 1.2 to 1.6% Mn, 0.05 to 0.45% Si, 0.05 to 0.60% Fe, up to 0.40% Cu, up to 0.14% Cr, up to 0.08% Ti, other elements up to 0.07% each and a total of 0.25%, the rest being aluminium; treating the molten alloy by injecting gas; casting the alloy between rolls to form a strip with a thickness of less than 5 mm, during casting a mould dressing is applied to the rolls; homogenising the strip at between 450 and 530 deg C for 2 to 20 hours; cold rolling the strip in several passes; intermediate annealing at 300 to 400 deg C for 1 to 12 hours; and cold rolling in one or more passes to obtain the final thickens An Independent claim is included for the fabrication of drink can bodies with this aluminium alloy by pressing and drawing.
