[origin: WO0161178A1] The invention relates to a method for producing a cylinder head for an internal combustion engine, in particular for a spark ignition engine with direct injection, in particular of a motor vehicle. According to said method, the cylinder head is produced with excess dimensions on the side or the crank housing, the volume of all the combustion chambers allocated to the respective cylinders of the cylinder head is determined and a mean value VIST is determined from said volume. The volume VIST thus determined is compared with a desired volume for the combustion chamber VSOLL and using this comparison more or less material is mechanically removed on the crank housing side of the cylinder head, in such a way that a combustion chamber volume which corresponds as closely as possible to a desired combustion chamber volume is obtained from the sum for all the cylinders.
