[origin: WO0131345A2] The invention relates to a computer-based method for the automatic virtual analysis of the three-dimensional structure of the glyco part of glycoproteins and glycolipids, comprising the following steps: first, the amino acid sequence and the three-dimensional structure of the non-glycolysed protein or lipid to be analysed is read in, the partial sequences of the amino acids that represent possible glycolysis sites are then selected and finally, the three-dimensional position of the selected partial sequences in the protein/lipid is analysed. Those partial sequences selected where glycolysis is possible for geometrical reasons are then marked and these marked, potential glycolysis sites are output.
