Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0163866A1] A DSL repeater includes an upstream amplifying element (314) and upstream filter (312), a downstream amplifying element (304) and a downstream filter (302). The amplifying elements and filters are disposed between a pair of electromagnetic hybrids (322, 324), which couple the repeater to the loop. The downstream filter reduces or eliminates the effect of upstream signal leakage through the hybrid on the downstream signal. Likewise, the upstream filter reduces or eliminates the effect of downstream signal leakage through the hybrid on the upstream signal. The amplifying elements may comprise amplifying equalizers, which provide more amplification to higher frequency signals than to lower frequency signals. A dedicated twisted pair may deliver DC power to the repeater from the center office.
