[origin: DE10011480A1] A nucleic acid (N1) for amplifying and quantitatively and qualitatively detecting aquaporin genes, RNA or gene expression, is new. N1 is a nucleic acid or its complement, reverse, reverse complement, or derived RNA which specifically binds an aquaporin gene, or derived RNA. It comprises one of 28 21-221 nucleotide sequences, all fully defined in the specification and is specific for Vitis species. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) detecting or amplifying an aquaporin gene, gene fragment derived RNA gene expression, comprising contacting sample DNA or RNA with N1 and detecting hybridization of N1 with sample DNA or RNA; and (2) a microarray comprising at least N1.
