Abstract (en)
[origin: WO0166893A1] The invention relates to a sliding door for closing an opening in a wall, comprising a door leaf (1) and a suspension element which supports the door leaf (1), is mounted onto the wall (7) and has castors (3,4) and a sliding and guiding rail (5). According to the invention, the sliding and guiding rail (5) for the castors (3, 4) has a course which runs in such a way that the door leaf (1) is moved during its displacement into the closed position parallel to the wall opening and is lowered. To simplify the opening of the sliding door, the invention is characterized in that at least one support rail (8) which is in contact with the castors (3, 4) in the closed position and runs parallel to the sliding and guiding rail (5) is provided, that said support rail (8) is supported on the wall (7) using energy storing elements (9) and that the support rail (8) can be displaced in relation to the sliding and guiding rail (5) in the direction of the parallel displacement and/or lowering of the door leaf (1) in such a way that the energy storing elements (9) are stressed by the displacement of the door leaf (1) into the closed position.
