Abstract (en)
[origin: DE10011023A1] The silencer has a housing of flat box shape with an inlet aperture (9) in the base wall (3) and an outlet aperture (11) in the cover wall (5). A dividing wall (15) runs between the base wall and the cover wall, dividing the housing into a lower entry chamber (17) and upper outlet chamber (19). A laterally displaced through passage area (21) of the dividing wall has numerous small apertures. The sum of the cross-sections of the apertures is equal to or greater than the opening cross-section of the entry aperture. The compressed air on its path from the entry aperture to the outlet aperture must flow parallel to the dividing wall through the flat entry and outlet chambers.
