Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0167409A1] A transaction processing system comprises a register of unauthorized uses of the system, a real currency account and a virtual currency account corresponding to each user. Each account has a corresponding balance and the real currency account is held at a financial institution. An access facility is operable by an authorized user to issue transfer instructions for transferring a predetermined amount of currency between the user's currency accounts. The system includes an administration facility which is responsive to the transfer instructions to debit the virtual currency account of the particular user who issued the transfer instructions by debiting the virtual currency account of the user, and crediting that user's real currency account by the predetermined amount of currency.
