[origin: WO0169617A1] The invention relates to an emergency shutdown key having a mushroom-shaped actuating head (2) and a base body that is composed of components and has a fixedly arranged key guiding device (4). The inventive key comprises at least one moveable component and a locking arrangement which holds the emergency shutdown key in the pressed position when said emergency shutdown key is pressed. The emergency shutdown key can be unlocked by drawing and/or rotating the actuating head (2). The aim of the invention is to design said key as an illuminated push button and to flexibly use said key. The actuating head (2) is provided with an opening (54). A lens (56) can be introduced into said opening. Said lens is illuminated by means of an illuminating element (55) that is arranged on the opposite end of the actuating head (2). The locking arrangement is arranged between the illuminating element (55) and the actuating head (2) and is designed in a transparent manner. The fixed and moveable components have through openings for light.
