[origin: WO0157932A1] Substrates known in the art for use in flexible CIS solar cells have a series of drawbacks. The aim of the invention is to overcome these drawbacks. To this end, the substrate is characterized by a layer structure that comprises a chromium, nickel or nickel-iron base layer and a molybdenum, tungsten or palladium contact layer, or a nickel-molybdenum, nickel-tungsten or nickel-palladium alloy contact layer, or only a nickel-molybdenum, nickel-tungsten or nickel-palladium alloy contact layer disposed on a strip-shaped copper film. The layer structure is produced by a galvanic method. Advantageously, a galvanically deposited copper strip is used as the substrate material for the CIS solar cells.
