[origin: EP1262123A2] The support pillar (1), for a chair or table and the like, has a guide tube (5) with a nominal diameter and is bonded to an end section (11). A pressure tube (3) shrouds the guide tube. The guide tube has a transit length section (15), at the end towards the end section, with a smaller diameter than the nominal diameter in a conical or bottleneck shape. A guide section (17) of the guide tube can also give radial support at the inner wall of the pressure tube.
