[origin: WO0161668A1] The invention relates to a device for warning the driver of a motor vehicle of dangers by radio. The inventive device comprises a data transmission device for transmitting and receiving data. Said data transmission device exchanges data with data transmission devices of other motor vehicles and transmits data by activating the data transmission device, whereby said data is used for warning other motor vehicles of dangers. Said device evaluates the received data and supplies warning signals to the driver when a danger is detected. The transmitted data comprise information on the position, the speed and the driving direction of the transmitting motor vehicle and on the road type on which the transmitting motor vehicle moves. According to the invention, the information on the position, the road type and the driving direction is provided by a navigation system and, in addition, a caution zone around the current position of the transmitting vehicle is calculated by a computing unit and is transmitted by means of the data transmission system.
