Abstract (en)
[origin: DE10011982A1] The current taken by an electric motor for automobile windows or sun roofs is monitored and compared with a reference value so that the motor can be stopped or reversed if a foreign body is trapped in the window. A method of monitoring and influencing an electric motor, especially for motor vehicle windows or sunroofs, comprises comparing the actual motor current with a reference value, obtained from normal motor operation and stored in a computer memory with other parameters. If the actual current exceeds the reference value the motor is then stopped or put into reverse. An Independent claim is also included in which if the actual motor current exceeds the previous computer-stored value the unit (8) reading is increased by one and the stop or reverse signal is generated.
