The backrest support (6) is coupled to the seat platform support (3) so that it can be displaced. The inventive seat and backrest assemblies are characterized in that spring means (4) for cushioning the seat platform (1) and the backrest support (6) are located in the vicinity of the front, knee-supporting edge (2) of the seat platform (1), between said seat platform (1) and the seat platform support (3).
