Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0165954A1] The invention relates to a method of treating tobacco to reduce or eliminate nitrosamines therefrom. The method comprises the use of a supercritical fluid extraction medium at elevated temperature and pressure to selectively remove nitrosamines compared with nicotine removal. The nitrosamine content for all tobacco types can be reduced.
