[origin: WO0173719A2] The invention relates to an infrared communications device, comprising a base unit which communicates bidirectionally with a number of operating units. Said communications device uses a transmission protocol which provides that the base unit (1) emits a start pulse (Tr) that is received by all of the operating units (2-5). A time slot (F1-F5) is allocated to each operating unit (2-5), starting from the start pulse (Tr). The operating unit then sends its information to the base unit (1) within this time slot.
