[origin: WO0173907A1] The invention relates to a spark plug for an internal combustion engine, comprising at least two electrodes (9, 11). One of said at least two electrodes is at least one center electrode (11) and another electrode of the at least two electrodes is at least one shell electrode (9), a spark gap (13) being formed between the at least one shell electrode (9) and the at least one center electrode (11). Each of the at least two electrodes (9, 11) comprises an electrode base (93, 113). At least one electrode has a highly erosion-resistant section (95, 115) that configures at least a part of the front face of the electrode (97, 117) facing the spark gap. Said highly erosion-resistant section (95, 115) consists of an alloy that contains at least the elements iridium and nickel.
