Abstract (en)
The invention relates to a pillow type packaging apparatus for packaging an article (1) in a packaging bag (3), including a conveyor mechanism (26,28) for conveying flexible continuous sheet material (2), a guide unit (24) for guiding said continuous sheet material (2) being conveyed, to form said continuous sheet material into a tube in which a pair of longitudinal edges (2b) of said continuous sheet material are confronted with each other, a center sealer (25) for thermally sealing up said longitudinal edges (26), and an inserter (13,38) for inserting said article (1) into said tube through said guide unit (24) while a front end of said article (1) is directed downstream, wherein said tube is formed into said packaging bag (3) by cutting and sealing, a first and a second bender plate (45) for folding first and second lateral portions of said tube inwards, wherein said first and second bender plate (45) respectively have a triangular shape, are disposed downstream from said guide unit (24) and opposite to each other with respect to said tube, and are swingable about respective axes thereof, and a third and a fourth bender plate (46) for folding third and fourth lateral portions of said tube toward one another, wherein said third and fourth bender plate (46) respectively are disposed downstream from said guide unit (24), opposite to each other with respect to said tube, crosswise to arrangement of said first and second bender plate (45), and are swingable. <IMAGE>
