[origin: EP1270499A1] The filling unit (1) for a filling machine for nearly oxygen free filling of drinks, in particular, beer into bottles (8) comprises a probe serving for determining the filling height. This probe is constituted as a flushing pipe with a channel (19') which is open at its lower, free end and, by means of a gas line (32) with a control valve (29), is connected to a flushing gas channel (4). Also claimed is a filling machine with such filling units. These units are constituted so that they can be used for filling either glass or plastic bottles.
