Abstract (en)

[origin: WO0176986A1] The invention relates to a device for transporting two-dimensional workpieces, especially sheet metals or sheet bars, in a suspended manner. The inventive device comprises a number of mutually driven, circulating conveyor belts and at least one holding device that acts along the transport path, is assigned to the conveyor belts and is used for the two-dimensional workpieces. The conveyor belts of the inventive device, together with the holding devices assigned thereto, can be moved from the conveying region of said device into a parking position which is decoupled from the drive and is preferably adjacent to the conveying region of the device. According to the invention, a device for transporting two-dimensional workpieces in a suspended manner can be simply and quickly adapted to other holding principles by exchanging magnetic conveyor belts for steel sheets for suction conveyor belts for aluminium sheets for instance.
