Process for operating a vertical mixer for vaporous, liquid, powdered and pasty products comprises completely filling the mixer in the operating state; forming a shearing field in the mixed product and in the product stream using a mixing tool; and allowing the product to flow from the inlets to the outlet. Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zum vertikalen Mischen von gasförmigen, flüssigen, pulverförmigen und/oder pastösen Produkten mit z.B. einer in einem Gehäuse angeordneten Hohlwelle (2) und Innenwelle (3), wobei an der Hohlwelle (2) paddelförmige Mischwerkzeuge (4) und an der Innenwelle (3) eine unterhalb eines Auslasses (8) des Mischers (1) angeordnete Austragsvorrichtung(9) vorgesehen ist. Der Mischer (1) ist dabei im Betriebszustand voll gefüllt und das Produkt (11) und Zugaben werden mittels der Mischwerkzeuge (4) an die Innenwand des Gehäuses gedrückt. das Produkt fliesst aufgrund der Schwerkraft stetig nach unten und wirkt den teils rückwärtsfördernden Paddeln entgegen. Der kontinuierliche Produktfluss wird mit dem am Auslass (8) vorgesehenen Drehschieber (9) geregelt. Der Mischer (1) eignet sich insbesondere als Dosiervorrichtung und/oder zum Befetten von Extruder- und/oder Expanderprodukten. <IMAGE>
