[origin: EP1273864A2] Each intermediate plate (10) has a peripheral edge (11) metallically bonded to the peripheral edge of the adjoining tube end plate (5). The intermediate plate either contains a number of openings in a row or it can simply contain one or several openings. Heat exchanging medium for passing through the flat tubes in the heat exchanger can flow through the space between the intermediate plate and tube end plate. The heat exchanger comprises a soldered cooling network (1) of flat tubes and heat exchanging components. The flat tubes communicate with openings in opposing tube end plates. The plastic header tank (7) has an edge which is mechanically joined to the intermediate plate and to the peripheral edge of the tube end plate.
