[origin: WO0136172A1] The present invention relates to a coating agent for coating the surface of a substrate in the form of a foil which is provided with an upper cover layer, a middle chromophore layer and a lower carrier layer. According to the invention, the lower carrier layer is a free-flowing, hardenable adhesive and levelling layer for gluing the foil onto the surface of the substrate and for covering irregularities in the surface of the substrate. A flexible, hardenable cover layer is provided. The present invention also relates to a method for coating the surface of a substrate using such a coating agent.
