[origin: EP1275756A2] Melt spinning and cooling unit comprises a spinning unit with a nozzle, a cooling unit, a blower unit, a movable screen and sensor units. An arrangement for melt spinning and cooling a filament assembly (3) comprises a spinning unit (1) with a ring shaped nozzle (4) for extruding the filament assembly, and a cooling unit (2) under the spinning unit, which has a holder (10). A blower unit (9) is connected to the holder and is held centrally to the nozzle and can be moved to a maintenance position. A movable screen (24) is located next to the blower unit and can be moved between a rest and a screening position immediately below the nozzle. The screen is moved by an actuator which is connected to a control unit. The latter has a sensor (27) that monitors the blower unit position. The blower unit and the holder can be moved axially between operating and maintenance positions, and the candle can be changed over when in the maintenance position.
