[origin: EP1275773A1] A paper making de-watering press has an upper-roller (2) in contact with the flexible mantle (7) of a lower roller (1) together exerting a squeeze on a paper web (5) as this passes between them. The lower roller (1) is supported by a beam (6) with an upper shoe (10) and convex base block (11). The shoe (10) is esp. tilted (L) with its base away from the common centreline (S). The shoe (10) and beam (6) are tilted 1 to 5 degrees. The distance between the web inlet and centreline (S) is longer than the distance between centreline and web release point. The shoe (10) is supported by a number of hydraulic cylinders.
